Our Opportunity

Pick Everard are looking to appoint a knowledgeable Senior Cost Manager to lead and shape our offering at Porton Down, Salisbury.

We work across an array of sectors to include defence, commercial, residential, education and healthcare, however in this role, you will be based at our Porton Down office, and be delivering for one of our prestigious DSTL clients. 
 
Working closely with the team, you will prepare cost estimates, contract documents and reports.
 
This is a fantastic opportunity to work in an exciting sector, as part of a multi-disciplinary team. You will be able to make your mark within a growing consultancy, with a clear route for progression and plenty of career development opportunities. 
 
Please note, we offer agile working, which will see you working from the office on an average of 3 days per week. 
 
In this role, you will need to have security clearance. 
 
Key Responsibilities: 
 
  • Large and/or complex project runner with responsibility for project cost control
  • Ensures accurate provision of cost estimates, bills of quantities, contract documents and reports
  • Carries out audits/cost checks/reviews of construction and FM contracts
  • Liaises directly with Clients
  • Leads bid process and undertakes business development
  • Resources own jobs, undertakes team supervision and monitors internal costs
  • Manages less experienced staff on a day-to-day basis

  • Runs Design Team meetings, reports on and gives advice on cost control matters

About You

Key Requirements:

  • Chartered Surveyor with post chartered relevant experience. 
  • Member of RICS
  • Experience working within defence sector is desirable 
  • Security cleared or qualified for SC
  • Strong track record in a consultancy Quantity Surveying role, including cost management of building projects, feasibility/option studies, detailed cost planning, post contract cost management
  • Thorough understanding of the principal standard forms of Building Contracts including JCT and NEC3
  • Experience in liaison directly with clients
  • Ability to control day to day programming and planning
  • Excellent client communication skills
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills
