Overview
Postdoctoral Research Associate in Single-Molecule Biophysics – Strand, London, WC2R 2LS
About us
The Biological Physics & Soft Matter Group (BPSM) is an interdisciplinary research group within the Department of Physics, part of the Faculty of Natural, Mathematical & Engineering Sciences at King’s College London. Located at the Strand campus at the heart of London, the BPSM Group brings together academics working at the interface of physics and biology, both from an experimental and theoretical perspective.
About the role
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in experimental biophysics in the Department of Physics at King’s College London.
In this role, you will develop and employ cutting-edge force spectroscopy techniques to investigate the physical principles governing biomolecular systems under force. You work will combine the design and development of advance single-molecule instrumentation with the integration of computational approaches and theoretical modelling to interpret experimental data, aiming to uncover the molecular mechanisms underpinning force-sensing proteins.
This is a full time (35 hours per week), offered on a 23 months fixed term contract.
Research staff at King’s are entitled to at least 10 days per year (pro-rata) for professional development. This entitlement, from the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers, applies to Postdocs, Research Assistants, Research and Teaching Technicians, Teaching Fellows and AEP equivalent up to and including grade 7.
