We are looking for a Head of Finance and Deputy Section 151 Officer to join our Leadership Team, helping to deliver our vision for the future of our communities and residents

Our award-winning partnership here in Babergh and Mid Suffolk has allowed generations of residents to live fulfilled lives in a district that encourages and empowers them to shape the future they want.

In order to deliver our vision and make a significant difference, we need the right people leading the charge.

Let’s talk about impact

Keen to make your mark on two highly regarded Councils?

As the Councils’ Head of Finance and Deputy Section 151 Officer you will maintain our stable financial position, leading and delivering efficient and effective customer focused financial services and providing robust financial management and advice.

Your role will be crucial in our journey to ensuring effective financial decision making is at the forefront of enhancing our services.

You will be working with the Director of Corporate Resources, leading on the annual and longer-term financial plans across the organisation. Your remit will be wide and diverse as you review and develop our financial policies, regulations and systems to deliver a programme of continual improvements.

If you are passionate about professional development, this role gives you the opportunity to work closely with the finance team, helping them to develop professionally and supporting colleagues to meet their goals and the needs of the Councils.

Let’s talk about you

Qualified to degree level with a CCAB qualification or equivalent, plus considerable breadth of post qualification experience.

Considerable experience is required of working with and leading teams, maintaining high performance and seeking to continuously improve services. A management qualification is desirable.

The ideal candidate will have experience of successfully leading a financial management service in either a local government or other political environment.

If you are looking for a stimulating, career-enhancing role where you can build upon your track record of excellence in financial management, then look no further.

Let’s talk about Babergh and Mid Suffolk

Located in the heart of Suffolk, the districts of Babergh and Mid Suffolk enjoy incredible landscapes, including two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, coastal scenes and conservation areas.

Babergh is part of the Suffolk Coast and Heaths AONB, which includes the Stour and Orwell estuaries, a site of European nature conservation interest, and Dedham Vale and Stour Valley AONB.

Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils are at the forefront of joint working and are a progressive award-winning partnership, serving over 200,000 residents across our two districts. We are two sovereign councils, each with a strong sense of identity, but with a shared vision of the future.

We have integrated our two councils’ workforces and were one of the first districts nationally to move to a joint headquarters, together with our colleagues in Suffolk County Council and our health partners.

Together, we work to improve resources, refresh our values and do whatever it takes to deliver a thriving, sustainable future for all.

This is your opportunity to create a tomorrow where generations can thrive.
