Overview

The role of the ER Advisor is to provide advice, guidance and direct support to Line Management in respect of any employment related matters, and update and maintain case trackers and associated documentation in line with GDPR provisions. Work with the ER Advisor team to monitor the effectiveness of employment-related policies, procedures and template documents, amending to reflect any legislative changes or continuous improvement. Drive Line Management capability by delivering relevant workshops/training interventions and supporting relevant projects as assigned.

This role works closely with the relevant HRBPs for Head Office and the Central and South West Division, with a level of onsite presence expected (i.e. 2-3 days a week) across Head Office at High Wycombe and The Hub in Solihull for meetings, and in the relevant Business Units where required (Exeter, Bristol, Winchester, Bury St Edmonds and South Midlands) – base location is flexible across these with a level of mobility required. This role commences from the beginning of June 2024 for a fixed term period of 12 months.

What you will do:

Business support

  • Provide advice to Line Management Teams on employment law and employee relations matters, working arrangements, contractual matters, employee communication and consultation, ensuring TW is consistent and fair and meets its contractual obligations
    • Provide advice to the line management team on employment matters (generally via Teams/email).
    • Draft template letters in relation to any informal/formal meetings relating to ER cases.
    • Attendance (by Teams or in person where appropriate) at any meetings/hearings as deemed necessary to support Line Managers.
    • Monitor and support the management of short and long-term sickness absence issues utilising the BUPA system (including Occupational Health), supporting line managers with any action required.
    • Maintain a detailed record of all cases and advice provided.  Monitor to understand any key trends so that appropriate Line Manager awareness training is developed.
  • Work in conjunction with the HRBP’s to effectively hand over relevant cases ensuring a smooth and consistent service is provided.
  • Support Line Management Teams with grievance, disciplinary and capability procedures, ensuring an effective, fair and consistent approach across the business.
  • Work with the ER Advisor/HRBP/L&D teams to drive improved capability in ER matters through the development and delivery of upskilling workshops and support the development of other learning interventions.  Assess the level of competence being transferred back to the workplace as a measure of training and development effectiveness.
  • Support Line Management teams in closing out issues ensuring both legislative requirements and Company procedures are adhered to.
  • Responsible for maintaining relevant HR policies, procedures and template letters, ensuring they remain legislative and best practice compliant.
  • Drive improvement in HR support services, delivering a great service in a timely and effective manner.
  • Maintain continuous professional development/legislation and case law awareness.

HR Teamwork

  • Work with colleagues to ensure best practice and a consistent approach across the Group, working within Group frameworks as appropriate.
  • Support the development and implementation of relevant HR team and cross-functional projects.
  • Endeavour to demonstrate added value to the Business from HR activities.

What you will have:

  • Broad generalist HR experience.
  • Strong case management and ER exposure.
  • Ability to build relationships and partner at all levels, including Senior Manager.
  • Demonstrate drive and conviction and inspire confidence.
  • Communication (verbal and written), facilitation and negotiation skills.
  • Competent PC skills in Excel and Word.
  • Organisational skills – ability to prioritise workload, demonstrate a flexible approach and be able to work under pressure.
