About us:

This is an exciting opportunity for a Research Assistant to join an exciting and innovative health project based at the Department of Psychology at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience, King’s College London (IoPPN-KCL). It is a part time position based at Guys Campus.

•         Fundamental research to establish the psychosocial and neurological processes underlying adaptation to long-term conditions and the experience of symptoms.
•         Translational research testing the efficacy and effectiveness of theory-based psychological interventions for people with LTCs.
•         Development and evaluation of innovative methods for supporting self-management of health, symptoms, mood and adherence, including digital interventions.

About the role:

The post holder will support an NIHR Mental Health Translational Research Collaboration-funded project led by Dr Will Lawn, focused on improving awareness, understanding, and implementation of proportionate governance for non-CTIMP human drug administration studies. These are mechanistic psychopharmacology experiments that use medicines as pharmacological probes to test basic science hypotheses, rather than to evaluate clinical efficacy or safety as part of a CTIMP. The role will involve supporting surveys, interviews, focus groups, co-production activities, resource development, pilot evaluation, and dissemination across UK universities and research governance teams. The post holder will work closely with academic researchers, R&D/governance staff, pharmacy stakeholders, and a commercial media partner to develop accessible guidance and training materials. The overall aim is to improve consistency, transparency, and efficiency in the set-up of safe, lawful, non-CTIMP experimental medicine research.
 
This is a part time 50% post (17.5 hours per week), and you will be offered an a fixed term contract until 31 May 2027.
 
Please note that as the post is part time, the salary displayed in the advert will be pro rated accordingly.
