About the role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Advanced Animal Technologist to support the effective day‑to‑day operation of King’s Biological Services Facilities (BSF). The post‑holder will support facility management in the smooth running of the BSF, helping to engender a strong culture of care within the unit and providing an excellent level of service in support of scientific research at King’s.
 
Key responsibilities will include the maintenance, care, and welfare of animals, ensuring full compliance with Home Office regulations and the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986. The role will also involve liaising with academic and research staff who use the BSF to ensure that appropriate services are offered and to assist in the delivery of those services.
 
The post‑holder will be responsible for supervising trainee and animal technicians in the absence of senior facility management and must demonstrate a flexible approach to work. They will be expected to work both independently and under supervision, as required, following appropriate training. The successful candidate must also be willing to use IT systems to ensure accurate record keeping.
 
This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.
