We’re looking for a proactive Maintenance Workshop Technician to join our Water Recycling Maintenance Services team and play a vital role in optimising and maintaining our critical assets.
As a Maintenance Workshop Technician, you’ll be responsible for designing, machining, fabricating, and welding both new and existing assets to reduce operational costs and improve equipment reliability. You’ll work closely with the Workshop Team and internal customers to deliver high-quality solutions, drive efficiencies, and support best practice across our operations.
This is a varied and rewarding role that blends technical engineering, problem-solving, and collaboration.
Key responsibilities:

Carry out service, repair, refurbishment, and fabrication work on assets (e.g., gearboxes, pumps, screens)

Machine new parts to required tolerances using lathes, milling machines, and drills

Design and fabricate bespoke parts as needed

Conduct root cause analysis and recommend solutions for recurring equipment issues

Support performance monitoring and suggest process improvements

Deputise for the Maintenance Workshop Supervisor when required

Assist with workshop inspections and routine maintenance checks

Ensure compliance with Health & Safety procedures and policies

Mentor new employees and apprentices, and share technical knowledge
What does it take to be a Maintenance Workshop Technician?
Qualifications & Experience:

Completed engineering apprenticeship or equivalent NVQ level

ONC/BTEC or City & Guilds Parts 1 and 2 (or equivalent)

Proven experience in an industrial/workshop environment

Strong knowledge of pumps, gearboxes, and plant equipment maintenance

Competent in using lathes, milling machines, and radial drills

SAP and IRIS knowledge (desirable)
Skills & Knowledge:

High standard of machining, fabrication, and welding skills

Excellent IT, organisational, and administrative skills

Strong written and verbal communication
