About Us
We have an exciting opportunity for someone wishing to embark on a biomedical science career, as a Technician in the King’s Health Partners Cancer Biobank, part of the School of Cancer and Pharmaceutical Sciences, based on the Guy’s Campus. Â
The Cancer Biobank has been supporting translational cancer research at a national level since the 1970’s by providing high quality, carefully curated samples and data. These samples have all been acquired under documented procedures and are linked to verified clinical data.
The Biobank has a team of more than 20 full time staff, with a diverse range of expertise, from specialist technical to quality and outreach.

About The Role
The purpose of this post is to provide technical support for various biobank activities. This includes collecting specimens from operating theatres, clinics and phlebotomy rooms within Guy’s Hospital and transporting them to the Biobank in a timely manner. It may also include collecting, scanning and filing associated consent forms. The role requires the post holder to react promptly to requests to collect samples whilst working within a regulated environment. It also requires some physical effort, which may be over a prolonged period.

Alongside the main sample transport role, the postholder will provide other support to the Biobank, including stock control, equipment maintenance, filing samples, assisting with audit activities and administrative duties.

Full training will be provided and the post holder will participate in continuing professional development to further expand their knowledge. This includes actively supporting professional registration (RSciTech). The ideal candidate will have good communication skills, be able to work under pressure and within a team.

This is a full time (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered an fixed term contract until 1st September 2027.
