Job Description

Reporting to the Head of Programme Management the Senior Project Manager is responsible for the successful initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, controlling and closure of projects, ensuring that contractual obligations are met on time and to budget, whilst achieving customer satisfaction and good morale within the project team.

Programme and Project Management Team

Within the Renishaw Neuro Solutions (RNS) business the Project Management team is responsible for capturing, communicating, and delivering agreed project outcomes using appropriate management techniques, collaboration, leadership, and governance.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable and Responsible for the successful initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, controlling and closure of key projects. Manage multiple Projects.

  • Provides effective leadership to the project team and driving progress.

  • Adopts appropriate project management methods and tools.

  • Has a broader overview and scope of concurrent projects and interdependencies.

  • Agrees project approach with stakeholders and prepares realistic project plans (including scope, required resource, schedule, quality, risk, and communication plans). Tracks activities against the project schedule, managing stakeholder involvement as appropriate.

  • Ensures that project team leads adhere to the agreed project management approach and timetable.

  • Maintain overall responsibility for all aspects of the project. Monitor costs, timelines, quality and resources used and take action when performance deviates from agreed tolerances.

  • Key interface to manage internal stakeholders whilst also supporting external stakeholders.

  • Manage change control for the project and assess and manage risks with appropriate escalation.

  • Conducting regular project reviews to check progress, manage cost, identify deviations from plan, detect risk and forecast future performance.

  • Communicating with globally based multi-disciplined teams

  • Identify, mitigate, and escalate risks and opportunities as appropriate.

  • Provide guidance on individual project proposals.

  • Supporting the development of Procedures and project management processes.

  • Monitoring and retrospective review of a project’s success for continual improvement of project management

  • Support Junior Team members in mentoring and coaching

Key requirements

The Project Manager must have a combination of skills including an ability to ask penetrating questions, detect unstated assumptions and resolve conflicts, as well as more general management and leadership skills.

  • Project Management Degree, Qualification or Equivalent Experience

  • Relevant level of experience of working in engineering environment

  • Project Management or project management support role for product or systems projects

  • Personal gravitas and status to lead, and command respect amongst peers.

  • Proactive nature

  • Effective communicator and influencer at all levels

  • Working with global teams

  • Ability to work as a team

  • Excellent Time Management Skills

Desirable requirements

  • Knowledge of medical device regulations such as 21 CFR 820 (QSR) or the 2017/745 MDR and international standards such as ISO 13485 or other regulated industries.

  • Knowledge of Agile Project Management and/or Scrum Methodology. Both Mechanical and Software Development Projects
