Senior Business Analyst (Recoveries) 12 month FTC – London – Hybrid working with a 40% office requirement

FSCS is seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to join our Legal team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

As a Senior Business Analyst within Recoveries, you will play a key role in delivering strategic initiatives, transformation programmes and pilot activities that support the evolution of the function. Acting as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, you will provide leadership, guidance and subject matter expertise across complex business change, while helping to develop analytical capability across the wider team.

This senior role requires extensive analytical experience, strong commercial awareness and the ability to influence at all levels. Working across multiple initiatives, you will lead the design of operating models, governance frameworks, business processes and delivery approaches that ensure strategic objectives are achieved in a controlled and auditable way.

You will own complex analysis activities, lead stakeholder engagement and requirements gathering, challenge existing ways of working and drive continuous improvement. You will be instrumental in translating strategic objectives, regulatory requirements and business priorities into practical, sustainable solutions, while maintaining strong governance and oversight throughout delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Lead complex requirements elicitation, analysis and validation activities, taking ownership of stakeholder engagement through to formal agreement and sign-off.

Support the design and documentation of strategic initiatives, pilot projects and associated operating processes.

Drive the standardisation and continuous improvement of Recoveries processes, governance frameworks and operating procedures.

Lead the development of future-state operating models and process designs, bringing “As Is” and “To Be” states to life through effective process modelling and stakeholder engagement.

Champion business analysis methodologies, governance standards and delivery best practices across strategic initiatives.

Act as a subject matter expert in business process analysis, process modelling and governance design.

Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce risk and enhance operational effectiveness through data-driven analysis and evidence-based recommendations.

Lead complex workshops, stakeholder forums and cross-functional working groups to drive consensus and achieve desired outcomes.

Lead and support the strategic planning, prioritisation and mobilisation of initiatives, ensuring alignment with wider organisational objectives and cross-functional stakeholder engagement.

Design and document end-to-end business processes, governance arrangements and supporting artefacts.

Coordinate information gathering, analysis and reporting activities to support evaluation and decision-making processes.

Coordinate activity and information flows between internal and external stakeholders.

Support senior governance forums through preparation of papers, reporting and tracking of actions and decisions.

Identify, track and manage risks, issues, actions and decisions relating to strategic initiatives, maintaining comprehensive audit trails and other governance artefacts.

Build strong relationships with stakeholders across FSCS, acting as an influential and trusted advisor to support successful delivery of strategic initiatives.

Provide guidance, coaching and support to Business Analysts and other colleagues, helping to develop analytical capability and promote best practice across the function.

Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, providing constructive challenge and influencing decision-making to support successful delivery of business objectives.

About you:

This fixed term opportunity suits an experienced Business Analyst who has expert experience working as a Business Analyst within complex projects, programmes, strategic initiatives or transformation portfolios, with demonstrable experience operating in a senior or lead capacity. To be successful in this role you will need;

Deep knowledge of project delivery methodologies, business analysis frameworks and governance disciplines.

Demonstrated ability to lead multiple concurrent initiatives in a fast-paced and evolving environment.

Strong ability to influence, challenge and engage stakeholders at all organisational levels, including senior leadership.

Experience developing future-state operating models, business architectures and strategic delivery approaches.

Expert knowledge of business process modelling techniques and the ability to coach others in analysis methods and best practice.

Advanced analytical capability including complex data analysis, trend identification, impact assessment and evidence-based decision support.

Experience facilitating complex workshops, requirements sessions and stakeholder forums.

Ability to rapidly understand strategic priorities and translate them into measurable deliverables and practical implementation plans.

Experience working across architecture, technology, operational, regulatory and business domains to support delivery of complex change.

Experience supporting the implementation and mobilisation of strategic initiatives, programmes or complex business change activities.

Strong analytical and organisational skills, with the ability to gather, interpret and present information from multiple sources, whilst managing complex workstreams, actions, dependencies and governance outputs.

Ability to work in confidential, commercially sensitive or legally sensitive environments.

Experience and knowledge of the financial services industry, including an understanding of regulatory frameworks and the nuances of working within a regulated environment.

Experience supporting structured evaluation, assessment, procurement, tender or supplier-selection exercises.

Certified in Business Analysis Professional or equivalent is desirable.
