Pastry Chef

Independent School | Full Time | Monday to Friday (1 Saturday per Month)

We are seeking a talented and experienced Pastry Chef to join our catering team within a prestigious Independent School. Working with the finest and freshest ingredients, you will play a key role in producing exceptional bakery and pastry items from scratch while contributing to an outstanding dining experience for students, staff and guests.

The Role

As Pastry Chef, you will be responsible for creating and delivering high-quality pastry, bakery and dessert offerings across a variety of dining services and events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce and deliver exceptional food items for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, staff dining and special events
  • Create all breads, pastries, baked goods and dessert products
  • Develop, maintain and update recipes for the pastry section
  • Support the Head Chef with menu planning and product costing
  • Minimise and record food waste in line with company standards
  • Maintain the highest food safety and health & safety standards
  • Report any safety concerns promptly to management
  • Work closely with kitchen and support teams to ensure excellent standards of cleanliness and organisation
  • Collaborate with senior management to deliver an outstanding bespoke dining experience

About You

We’re looking for a passionate culinary professional who takes pride in producing exceptional pastry and bakery products.

You’ll Have:

  • Previous experience in a Pastry Chef position
  • Strong pastry, bakery and dessert production skills
  • A passion for high-quality food and current culinary trends
  • Excellent knowledge of food safety, hygiene and health & safety procedures
  • Experience with stock control and waste management
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • A positive, proactive and flexible approach
  • High personal standards and a commitment to excellence
  • A creative mindset and enthusiasm for innovation
