Role responsibilities

Transport for Wales is seeking a highly organised and proactive Road Vehicle & Estates Support Manager to lead the delivery of key services within our Customer Estates Function. Reporting to the Customer Estates Contracts Performance Manager, you’ll take full ownership of our pool vehicle fleet ensuring regulatory compliance, strategic provision across the business, and effective budget management.

You will also be responsible for general purchasing, organisational support, and contribution to fleet-related projects and policy development. You’ll be a key player in stakeholder engagement, maintaining robust communication and practical service delivery across internal functions.

  • Ensure all company drivers meet licensing requirements and vehicle operations align with regulatory and internal safety standards.
  • Oversee vehicle tracking, maintenance, procurement, inspections, and fuel usage across a fleet with a £0.5m annual budget.
  • Promote clear communication and service accessibility across internal functions within Customer Estates.
  • Research industry standards to implement cost-effective, high-quality solutions and purchasing strategies aligned with Welsh Government
  • Assist in contract delivery, consumable management, KPI tracking, and budget oversight to enable continuous improvement.
  • Develop contingency plans to mitigate risks from seasonal, operational, or external disruptions affecting train operations.

Who we’re looking for

  • Strong technical knowledge of fleet operations, vehicle compliance, estates management, and the network
  • Able to problem-solve and adapt to changing circumstances using sound judgement and broad principles to deliver effective results
  • Experience working to policies, procedures, and standards
  • Analytical and presentation skills
  • Confident decision-maker

Welsh Language Skills

The ability to speak/write Welsh would make a great addition to your application, but it is not essential for this role.
