Public Affairs Manager – Monument Place

As the Public Affairs Manager you will listen to and represent the views of our stakeholders across GTR, ensuring we run services that match their needs, that our stations, our ticketing facilities and car parks all meet the high standards our customers and stakeholders expect. The role will enable GTR to develop, and proactively manage positive relationships with external stakeholders such as members of Parliament, the GLA, local Authorities to Rail User Groups and community groups and business about their services, stations and communities. This will  enable the delivery of GTR’s Business Plan and National Rail Contract and enhance GTR’s brand reputation as a business that cares about the communities it operates within, and listens to and acts on feedback.  Stakeholders should feel they are involved and understand GTR’s priorities via a structured series of  events, webinars, meetings and email contact, which will be included as part of an annual plan developed by the team. The role complements and will work collaboratively with other members of the PACP team to ensure that there is a consistent and co-ordinated approach to stakeholder engagement whether via the operational, community engagement or parliamentary engagement route.  

Within this role you will:-

  • Organise forums to support our engagement with stakeholders
  • Write concise and engaging briefings and newsletters on the latest developments we need to share with stakeholders.
  • Produce communication plans on a range of topics and helping to deliver them.
  • Provide written responses to  queries from the public and rail user groups

If you can bring the following experience to this we would love to hear from you:-

  • A Public Affairs professional with experience in Corporate Affairs or Public Affairs related roles.
  • Evidence of success in implementing strategies and campaigns to achieve lobbying and communications objectives and of mobilising mixed teams in support.
  • Evidence of written communications across a variety of styles.
  • Experience of working with Government officials and Civil Servants, including MPs. Experience of building long-term, strategic relationships to deliver significant business value.
