Project Planning Manager – Excel London | Full-Time / Permanent
£46,000 + excellent benefits including healthcare, wellbeing support, 23 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, life assurance, meals on duty, and more.
We’re looking for a confident Project Planning Manager oversee the strategic planning and management of event operations at Excel London – one of Europe’s largest and most successful venues, hosting some 400 events per year!
This exciting Project Planning Manager role will play a key role in ensuring that events are organised flawlessly, within budget, and aligned with the Levy’s goals and objectives. In collaboration with the Head of Planning you will collaborate with various departments and stakeholders to deliver high-quality experiences that enhance the Excel’s reputation and achieve its strategic objectives.

Project Planning Manager – The role
- Help deliver standout conferences, trade shows, product launches, and corporate events from planning through to execution.
- Coordinate seamlessly with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure every event runs on time, on budget, and to the highest standard.
- Drive operational excellence by improving processes, service quality, and guest experience across all events.
- Support strategic event planning aligned with company goals, innovation, and industry best practice.
- Monitor KPIs, event performance, and operational efficiency to continually raise standards.
- Champion health, safety, compliance, sustainability, and SOP excellence across all operations.
- Lead, mentor, and motivate event operations teams to create a high-performance, people-first culture.
- Identify training and development opportunities while recognising and celebrating team success.
- Support budget management, forecasting, labour planning, and cost control to maximise operational efficiency.
- Build strong client relationships through clear communication, personalised service, and a passion for delivering exceptional hospitality experiences.
What we’re looking for
- A confident leader with exceptional organisational, strategic delivery, and communication skills
- A proven track record of managing and planning large-scale events and leading cross-functional teams
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required. Occasional travel may be required
- A relevant degree is a bonus! Event Management, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field
- Strong management skills with the ability to multitask and manage multiple events simultaneously.
- Proficiency in event management software and tools.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Financial acumen with experience in budget management and financial reporting.
- Optimism, a can-do- attitude, with a positive outlook.
- Teamwork, problem solving and an ability to multitask.
- The ability to create and maintain great relationships with clients, venue sales and events management team, peers and relevant department’s heads.
