How you’ll make a difference

As a Night Care Assistant, you play a key role in ensuring residents in our care home feel safe, comfortable and well supported throughout the night. Working as part of a wider care team, your role focuses on providing both physical and emotional support, responding to individual care needs and helping residents maintain as much independence as possible.

What you will be doing

  • Supporting with personal care during the night, you will complete regular wellbeing checks in accordance with each resident’s support plans. 
  • You will carry out nightly health and safety checks, such as ensuring the building is secure, doors and windows are properly closed and potential hazards like heaters and cookers are safely switched off.
  • A key part of your role involves supporting residents who are awake during the night, ensuring their needs are met in line with their individual support plans.
  • You will contribute to risk assessments, mental capacity assessments and best interest decisions, helping to ensure that each resident’s needs are understood and met, while maintaining accurate and up-to-date records such as daily notes and support plans.
  • An important aspect of the role is recognising and reporting any concerns, taking appropriate action in line with safeguarding procedure to protect vulnerable individuals.

What we need from you

  • We are looking for candidates who hold an NVQ Level 2 or equivalent, or who can demonstrate a commitment to achieving this qualification.
  • It is essential that you have an understanding of key professional care groups and external partners, such as GPs, nursing services and emergency services.
  • The nature of this work requires empathy, resilience and the ability to respond appropriately to challenging behaviour in a calm and supportive manner. 
  • You must have knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and codes of practice, alongside an understanding of specialist equipment and safe manual handling techniques.

  • Your uniform and equipment will be provided.
  • Please note that due to the nature of this role, it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained.
