The team you will be joining

GIA (Group Internal Audit) is a high-performing team of over 35 colleagues. You'll work with teams delivering audit and assurance reviews across Skipton Building Soc
iety. Your work helps safeguard customers and stakeholders by ensuring key risks are well managed.

GIA is structured across three core specialisms:

  • Financial and Prudential Risk
  • Operational and Conduct Risk
  • IT and Change

Beyond assurance, we’re driving innovation – leveraging data analytics, storytelling in reporting and exploring AI to transform the audit journey.

Within this, you will join the Professional Practices function, working closely with Audit Leads, the Professional Development Lead and the wider GIA Senior Leadership Team. This is a key role focused on enhancing methodology, quality and reporting, ensuring GIA continues to evolve and deliver maximum impact across the Group.

What Will You Be Doing?

You’ll play a key role in strengthening how Group Internal Audit operates by enhancing its methodology, quality assurance framework and reporting capabilities. With a particular focus on the continued development of GIA’s reporting and management information, including greater provision of insights to the GIA Senior Leadership Team and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the development and continuous improvement of GIA’s audit methodology, ensuring alignment to professional standards and evolving business needs
  • Enhancing and supporting delivery of GIA’s quality assurance and continuous improvement programme  
  • Leading and developing GIA’s management information and reporting, ensuring we are reporting the right things, at the right time
  • Shaping the future state of reporting within GIA – identifying opportunities to improve insight, efficiency and impact
  • Delivering meaningful, insight-led reporting to senior stakeholders and committees
  • Supporting delivery of GIA’s strategy, vision and people plan, including coaching and developing colleagues

What Do We Need From You?

To be successful in this
role, you’ll have:

  • Experience of working within Internal Audit and a strong understanding of audit methodologies and standards
  • Strong analytical and data capability, with the ability to turn MI into clear, valuable insights
  • A continuous improvement mindset, with a passion for enhancing processes, reporting and ways of working (relevant certification would be beneficial, but not essential)
  • An ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and effectively
  • Experience of developing others through coaching or knowledge sharing
  • A proactive, curious mindset with the confidence to provide constructive challenge and drive improvement
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with others
  • Financial services experience advantageous
