Job Title: Deputy Head of Apprenticeships
Salary: Commencing at £43,492 with progression to £46,133 per annum
About the Role

What You Will Do

  • Collaborate with Heads of Department to lead and enhance the quality of teaching, learning, and assessment, ensuring exceptional outcomes for apprentices.
  • Lead and motivate a diverse team working across multiple sectors and industries, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.
  • Take ownership of meeting and exceeding apprenticeship targets, playing a key role in the growth and success of University Centre Apprenticeships.
  • Develop and implement strategies to drive high retention, achievement, success, and attendance rates for apprenticeship standards as well as ensuring all awarding body, funding, and quality standards are consistently met.
  • Serve as a role model across the directorate by fostering strong employer relationships and leading excellence in apprenticeship delivery and assessment.
  • Actively support the planning, preparation, and development of schemes of work, lesson plans, teaching and learning resources, assessment plans, Individual Training Plans (ITPs), and the setup of online portfolios to enhance apprentices’ learning experiences.

About You

  • Level 3 qualification in any subject, English and Maths at Level 2 (or willing to improve), plus Level 3 in assessment, education and training, and Level 4 in Internal Quality Assurance.
  • Proven track record of working with employers and successfully delivering high-quality apprenticeship programmes.
  • Strong knowledge of quality assurance frameworks and processes, with hands-on experience managing high-quality apprenticeship delivery.
  • Ability to contribute to the development and delivery of strategies that improve retention, achievement, success, and attendance across learner groups.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships across internal teams and external partners.
