JOB PURPOSE

Burberry is looking for a skilled Product Developer to help bring our women’s formal footwear collections to life from design concept through to showroom delivery. Based in Florence, this role sits within our Product Development function and plays a key part in translating creative vision into beautifully crafted product.
 
Working closely with Design, Technical, Merchandising and vendor partners, you will support the development of prototypes, samples and special orders, balancing creativity, quality, timing and cost. This is an opportunity to contribute to the craft and precision behind Burberry product, ensuring each piece reflects our standards of luxury, innovation and customer relevance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the end-to-end development of prototypes, samples and special orders for women’s formal footwear, from design launch to showroom delivery.
  • Partner closely with Design to interpret creative direction, attend fittings, provide product feedback and support solutions that protect the design vision.
  • Collaborate with Technical teams and suppliers to resolve development challenges, share updates and keep key stakeholders informed.
  • Build effective relationships with vendors, understanding their capabilities, availability and ways of working to support business needs.
  • Track prototype, sample and component orders, maintaining accurate PLM data and sample trackers throughout the collection process.
  • Support delivery against critical path, quality expectations and cost targets, identifying risks early and proposing practical actions.

PERSONAL PROFILE

  • Experience in footwear product development, ideally with knowledge of women’s formal footwear, construction methods, materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Able to translate design intent into clear briefs for internal teams, technical partners and vendors.
  • Commercially aware, with an understanding of product costs, margin considerations and budget requirements.
  • Comfortable working with vendors and factory partners, including on-site collaboration where required.
  • Clear and collaborative communicator who can work effectively across Design, Technical, Merchandising and supplier teams.
  • Confident using PLM and Excel, with English language skills at B2 level or equivalent.
