About the role

Do you want to shape the future of entrepreneurship at one of the world’s leading universities?

We are seeking an exceptional Ventures Lead (Fundraising) to ensure that Imperial ventures are investment-ready and have the right connections and platform to launch globally impactful innovations.

Imperial Enterprise Lab is the front door to entrepreneurship at Imperial College London, building a visible, inclusive and high-energy community that inspires students, researchers and alumni to explore entrepreneurship, develop their ideas and launch impactful ventures.

What you would be doing

Working closely with the Ventures team and other stakeholders, you will curate and grow Imperial’s investor community, develop new opportunities for founders and investors to engage, and continually evolve the mechanisms through which these connections are made. This currently includes responsibility for three core platforms: the Imperial Investor Network, the Investment Portal and the online investor education platform. You will be responsible for continuously reviewing and improving these services to meet changing user needs and enhance investor engagement.

What we are looking for

  • Experience of working with and coaching early-stage startups and founders
  • Demonstrable experience of working within venture capital, angel investment, entrepreneurship, innovation, commercialisation or a related funding ecosystem and knowledge of the UK early-stage investment landscape, including angel investment, venture capital and grant funding mechanisms.
  • An understanding and empathy of the academic environment and funding mechanisms, preferably gained through previous experience of working within a university.
  • Strong relationship building skills, including at senior level, conducive both to informal team environments as well as within formal structures.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, listening and written) with experience in customer facing roles, capable of quickly building rapport and the ability to draw out in-depth feedback.

What we can offer you

  • The opportunity to shape entrepreneurship support and impact at a globally recognised university.
  • The chance to work with ambitious students, researchers, founders, investors and partners solving real-world challenges.
  • Personal Development budget is provided for each member of the Enterprise Lab team.
  • Benefit from a sector-leading salary and remuneration package (including 43 days’ annual leave and generous pension schemes).
  • Access to a range of workplace benefits including a flexible working policy from day one, generous family leave packages, on-site leisure facilities and cycle-to-work scheme.
  • Interest-free season ticket loan schemes for travel.
  • Be part of a diverse, inclusive and collaborative work culture with various staff networks and resources to support your personal and professional wellbeing.
