About the role 

We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Payables Officer to join our Finance team. This role is instrumental in maintaining accurate and secure supplier information while supporting the effective delivery of Accounts Payable services across multiple Councils within a Shared Service environment.

Working in a regulated public sector setting, you will play a key role in ensuring supplier records are managed in line with financial regulations, audit requirements, and fraud prevention controls. Your work will contribute directly to safeguarding public funds and maintaining trust in financial processes.

About you 

  • Experience working in a finance or accounts payable environment, ideally within the public sector or a regulated organisation.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow processes and maintain accurate records.
  • Understanding of financial controls, governance, and fraud prevention in a payables context.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, suppliers, and stakeholders.
  • IT literate, with experience of finance systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Able to prioritise tasks and manage a high volume workload to meet deadlines.
