Job Title: Course Leader – Art
Salary: Commencing at £34,869 with progression to £40,410 per annum
About the Role

What You Will Do

  1. Responsible for retention, achievement, progress/value added, attendance and positive progression rates for Art Courses.
  2. Plan, prepare and develop schemes of work, lesson plans, teaching and learning resources and assessment plans and ensure these are in place for all the course(s) teaching activity. 
  3. Deliver and assess essential knowledge and understanding to learners. 
  4. Maintain high quality and effective delivery across the course team. 
  5. Responsible for developing new units, modules and courses in line with government policy, awarding organisation developments and student demand as well as local community, economic and employer requirements.
  6. Lead IQA and EV visits.

About You

  1. Holds a L5 Teaching Qualification (e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE).
  2. Relevant highest-level vocational qualification or degree in teaching subject.
  3. You are a passionate and experienced art educator with a strong background in creative practice and teaching.
  4. You have a solid understanding of a range of artistic disciplines such as drawing, painting, sculpture, or digital media, and are confident in designing and delivering engaging, inclusive lessons.
  5. You are highly organised and capable of planning structured courses, setting clear learning objectives, and assessing student progress effectively. 
  6. You are comfortable managing a classroom or studio environment, ensuring it is safe, supportive, and conducive to creativity.
  7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential. You work well independently and as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues and engaging positively with students.
