We have an exciting opportunity to join the Paediatric Dietetic team at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a full-time, permanent Band 6 Paediatric Dietitian. The successful candidate will be involved in delivering specialist paediatric inpatient and outpatient services.

The postholder will work as part of a dynamic team of 7 paediatric dietitians. This role offers a wide range of benefits including the opportunity for flexible working, as well as a range of professional development opportunities.

Main duties of the job

This post will involve managing an inpatient caseload on our paediatric ward, as well as providing specialist outpatient advice in our general paediatric and allergy clinics. 

The post holder will gain experience in specialist areas such as diabetes, home enteral feeding, neonates, oncology and cystic fibrosis. 

In addition to clinical responsibilities, the post holder will have the opportunity to develop supervision skills through supporting other staff and students. They will also be encouraged to actively contribute to audits, as well as to develop and implement innovative approaches to service delivery.

Excellent team working, communication and prioritisation skills are essential.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The postholder will 

  • As part of the Ashford and St Peter’s Dietetic Department provide a high-quality nutrition and dietetic service to Paediatric in-patients, out-patients, carers and staff at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals.
  • As a practitioner with a high degree of autonomy take responsibility for managing own workload and planning this effectively
  • To take an active role within the general functioning of the Dietetic Department, including contributing to student training.   
  • Communicate and collaborate with team members, other HCPs and partner organisations to support service improvements.

Qualifications

Essential

4 year degree in Dietetics (or equivalent qualification) 

Registration with HCPC

Desirable

Student supervisory skills course 

Membership of the British Dietetic Association  

Post-Registration BDA Paediatric Course – Module 1 

Experience 

Essential

General NHS experience in clinical dietetics 

Experience of a secondary care setting with a paediatrics service 

Experience working in a range of clinical
