Who We Are Looking For
We are seeking a Process Engineering Team Manager to provide technical leadership, people management and engineering excellence across our Process Engineering Team. This is a senior role within the Engineering Team, responsible for leading process engineering design and assurance across water and water recycling projects from feasibility through to construction and delivery.
You will act as a subject matter expert, supporting multi‑disciplinary project teams to deliver safe, compliant and value‑driven solutions, while mentoring and developing engineers with a range of experience while supporting the continuous improvement of engineering standards and practices. This role is hybrid, predominantly office‑based with occasional site and supplier visits.
Key Responsibilities
You will provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise in process engineering, supporting the development and delivery of robust water and water recycling solutions across the project lifecycle. You will lead, manage and develop a team of Process Engineers and Senior Process Engineers, overseeing performance, capability development and wellbeing in line with company policies.
You will be accountable for engineering excellence, developing and applying Anglian Water standards, reviewing and approving process designs and documentation, and challenging solutions to ensure they are safe, compliant, sustainable and represent best whole‑life value. You will support optioneering, detailed design, off‑site build and standard product solutions, and contribute to technical governance, HAZOPs, design risk assessments and acceptance testing.
You will manage team budgets in collaboration with the Engineering Manager, support recruitment and professional development, and contribute to continuous improvement across engineering practices. Working collaboratively with delivery partners, operations, contractors and suppliers, you will provide expert input to projects, frameworks and technical standards.
You will champion health and safety through design, promote Anglian Water’s Safer Every Day culture, and ensure designs comply with all statutory, regulatory and internal standards.
What Does It Take to Be a Process Engineering Team Manager?

Significant experience in process engineering within water or wastewater environments

Proven technical leadership experience, including design review, assurance and standards development

Experience leading, mentoring and developing engineers at different career stages

Strong understanding of safety in design, HAZOP, risk reduction and regulatory compliance

Ability to manage competing priorities and support delivery across multiple projects

Strong communication, influencing and collaborative working skills

Experience working within multi‑disciplinary project teams
