Catering Manager – The Chaucer Hospital 

£33.892 per annum / 40 hours per week 

We are currently looking for a dedicated Catering Manager to help ensure the smooth running of our catering operation within one of our Medirest Signature contracts. The role of the Catering Manager is based at The Chaucer Hospital and is a full-time position, contracted to 40 hours per week.

To fully manage the day to day delivery of all catering services within the hospital kitchen and ward pantries and hospital led events, ensuring that the restaurant and patient food provision within this flag ship private hospital meets the high standards and expectations. Ensure that the Company’s reputation for quality and service is enhanced with the client and customer by maintaining effective and visibly good standards in all services, taking immediate steps to remedy, communicate or escalate any deficiencies. To manage and motivate a large team including kitchen and restaurant staff as well as ward hosts, ensuring that all relevant training and development is provided to ensure the team put the customer first. 

Our ideal Catering Manager will be:

  • Qualified Chef with a flair for working creatively with food
  • Evidence of People Management at manager or supervisor level
  • Excellent Communication skills
  • Results Oriented person, enthusiasm, and drive to succeed in the role
  • Ability to identify and address staff performance issues, positive and negative.
  • Create and implement performance improvement plans where necessary
  • Understand and deliver Customer needs
  • Never be afraid to submit ideas to innovate or improve in an areas of service  

Essential

  • NVQ Level 1 & 2 or City & Guilds 706/1 and 2
  • Basic Food Hygiene certificate
  • Experienced in leading, motivating and managing a large and diverse team to ensure they are working in a cohesive manner
  • Minimum 4 years catering experience at manager level
  • Excellent financial acumen
  • Good IT and keyboard skills – Administration is a key part of this role
  • Understanding of EHO expected standards and Health and Safety Standards applicable to catering environments

Desirable

  • Food Service Management experience in a patient facing or hotel environment
  • Current working knowledge of food production methods and procedures
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Self-motivated, pro-active with the ability and drive to adapt to a changing environment
