Warwickshire has a fantastic fostering and alternative carers support team with a childcare focus. We recruit foster carers, assess, train and supervise and support them. We also have an SGO and alternative carers support team. We are countywide and have links with Fostering Network to support us and our foster carers. We are fortunate to have psychologist practitioners who are based in our team.

They offer consultations to staff of Social Workers and Family Support Workers and Foster Carers. We offer the successful candidate regular supervision and career progression. We are a trauma informed service and use restorative practice, which you will be fully trained in. We are proud of our Fostering Team and if you join us, you will see why.

The post will offer you the opportunity to:

Provide a range of support to carers and young people to maintain the stability of placements. (this could include evening or occasional weekend working)
Be part of the duty rota
Be part of a team and contribute to team meeting
To work in the Fostering Placement Hub
Attend Fostering Panel to present your report and support carers
Offer advice on our service to other professionals
Supervise and Support Foster Carers
Undertake annual reviews
Support as required with position of trust, allegations, end of placement and stability meetings
Work closely with Children’s Team and multi-agency partners
Ensure permanency for foster carers and children through SGO where appropriate

The Role:

We are looking for a Fostering Social Worker who will have a dual role. This is split between the role of a Supervising Social Worker and Social Worker to work on our Placement Hub. The higher proportion of the role will be as the Supervising Social Worker and your case allocation will be aligned to the two roles. You will join the Placement Hub on a rota basis. This is a busy exciting place to work and you will be working as part of an team which is made up of Placement Officers and WRAP service (responsive support for foster carers from Family support workers and a youth worker). The Fostering Supervision and Support role gives you the opportunity to stay connected to Foster Carers and really support them in their role caring for children and young people. You will have mixed case load of connected persons foster carers and mainstream foster carers. In this role you will undertake written annual reviews, support carers at fostering panel, support carers at Stability Meetings, end of placement meetings, support carers through allegations/cause for concern and ensure foster carers are compliant with training requirements. We are looking for applicants who have fostering experience or transferable skills.

For this post we are looking to recruit a full time post of 37 hours, on a permanent contract.

Your work will be child focused, analytical, and based on safeguarding evidence.

Applicants for the role will need a professional Social Work qualification and Social Work England Registration.
