Join EDF as a Senior Analyst within the Market Analysis team and you will play a crucial part in driving performance, informing trading strategies, and providing forecasts to the wider business.
The UK electricity market is changing rapidly, as the country moves towards a net-zero energy system. As Britain’s largest generator of zero-carbon electricity, with increasing interests in renewables, batteries, and other flexible generation, EDF is at the forefront of these changes.
We’re looking for a talented Senior Analyst to join the Market Analysis team, where you will be at the core of many activities that arise from, and support, these market developments.
The opportunity…
As a Senior Analyst, you will provide forecasts which underpin trading of our nuclear and battery assets, advise on strategies to optimise value from our flexible generators, and provide feedback on trading performance, helping to identify areas for improvement and innovation.
You will join a team who are responsible for developing and delivering change to further enhance the value they provide and drive performance in short and long-term markets. Providing supply margin and price forecasts to the trading team, you will help to steer the trading strategies for gas generators and batteries, whilst identifying areas where commercial performance can be improved.
Within this role, you will also play a crucial role in long-term power market activities, such as producing daily forward curves, modelling curve power prices and margins, and identifying and communicating market risks and opportunities.
You will become involved in or lead projects that will require collaboration with other Wholesale Market Service teams and across the Corporate Strategy, Sales & Marketing, and Generation businesses.
What we’re looking for…
Joining as a Market Analysis Senior Analyst, you will have broad knowledge of the GB energy markets and an understanding of other areas of the energy industry, with experience in modelling, forecasting, and reporting.
With an analytical background, you will have strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and at least one programming language, such as VBA or Python. You will have good interpretation skills, and the ability to manage large data sets, identify patterns and meaning, and communicate findings effectively.
Excellent planning and organisational skills are essential to this role, to enable you to deliver high-quality, business-critical information to strict deadlines, and to communicate findings in a clear and concise manner.
If you’re an excellent problem-solver with an interest in the energy markets, an eye for detail and a focus on value, then we would love to hear from you!
