The opportunity

As a Senior Regional Manager in Onshore Wind Operations, you will be at the forefront of maintaining, ensuring safety, and managing the day-to-day operations of a designated onshore wind energy region. You will directly oversee Area Managers and bear responsibility for the comprehensive maintenance and upkeep of wind turbines, high voltage (HV) equipment, facilities, tracks, and associated infrastructure within your region. As an integral member of the management team within the

 

Asset Operations directorate and the Onshore Business Unit, your role will involve strategic collaboration to drive the business’s growth towards a 10GW capacity and uphold industry-leading operational standards.

What you’ll be doing

 

This role offers a dynamic and impactful opportunity for a seasoned professional in the renewable energy sector to lead a critical region in achieving operational excellence and strategic growth. As a Senior Regional Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving the success of the onshore wind operations, contributing to the company’s mission of sustainable energy expansion and industry leadership.

 

  • Effective and efficient delivery of the services and performance levels which set out in the Operation and Maintenance Agreements (OMAs) for the various windfarms in the region.
  • Financial planning and management for the region, responsible for revenue and costs in order to achieve the commercial objectives of the business unit and directorate. Work directly with the Planning team, OEMs and Portfolio Management team to deliver effective and safe maintenance across all wind farms in assigned region with well-planned and efficiently deployed resources.
  • Work with Training experts to ensure that all aspects of the Regional team’s training is planned, designed and executed to support safe, compliant and effective operations.
  • Ensure that effective safety and quality management is role modelled and embedded throughout the team and processes, with effective controls, audit and assurance. 
  • Represent, when needed, EDF UK in Asset Operations meetings, tradeshows, conventions.

 

What do you need to be great at this role?

 

You will require a solid education coupled with strong / proven experience in operations and maintenance and securing and maintaining a safe environment for all operations.

 

  • Experience of establishing / managing internal and external relationships.
  • Qualification in electrical and/or mechanical engineering to at least HND level (or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience).
  • Solid understanding of electrical and/or mechanical engineering principles.
  • A safety qualification is required (IOSH working safely as a minimum, NEBOSH desirable).
  • Strong experience of managing risks and challenges of working in a wind turbine environment.
  • Experience in budget setting and management for internal resources and 3rd party service activities.
  • Sound knowledge in the application of UK based Wind Turbine Safety Rules, and in industry standard High Voltage Operating procedures and safety rules.
  • Strong understanding of the requirements for optimising the performance of a wind farm.
  • Good understanding of renewable operations and the technical systems involved.
  • Previous accreditation as AT/AE under WTSR an advantage.
  • Flexible to travel around the UK and overseas as the role requires (majority of any UK travel is to EDF wind farms and offices, overseas travel will be rare and mainly to EDF offices in France).
  • You’ll be a self-starter, with excellent organisational, planning and scheduling skills.
  • Excellent (English), oral and written, communication skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
