Wiltshire Environment – Shaping a Greener, More Sustainable Future
We are looking for an Environmental Health & Food Safety Public Protection Officer to join our Food and Safety Team in our well-established Public Protection Service!
Our Public Protection Service sits within our large unitary authority, bringing together food and health and safety, trading standards, animal health, environmental protection, licensing and pest control. Integration between these disciplines is not only encouraged but fully supported to deliver a quality service. We are looking for someone who can join our enthusiastic and creative team in meeting this objective.
As a Public Protection Officer in the Food and Safety Team, you will be instrumental in achieving both our proactive and reactive work programmes. You will work alongside an experienced group of officers who are knowledgeable, dedicated, hardworking and ever keen to protect the public whilst exploring innovative ways of providing a sustainable regulatory service, across a wide range of food hygiene, health and safety, and infectious disease projects.
Our ideal candidate will be Environmental Health graduates looking to embark on a graduate role with full support for career development and training to complete their Environmental Health Practitioner Portfolio and becoming a CIEH registered Environmental Health Practitioner.
You will have a thorough understanding or previous experience of working in food safety, health and safety and infectious disease control. To succeed in this role, you will have an approachable manner, excellent communication skills and the ability to independently prioritise your workload. The ability to inspect high risk and complex food processes incorporating knowledge of food standards would also be desirable.
