Overview

The post holder will have overarching responsibility for the collection, disposal, and management of all waste streams with Middlesbrough. They will also act as the authorities lead expert on the waste disposal partnership we have with the Tees Valley authorities, thus ensuring full compliance with the Tees Valley Waste Strategy.

They will be the authorities’ lead on the project management for the new Tees Valley Waste disposal contract, with responsibilities for maintaining strategic relationships with other parties ie: Tees Valley Combined Authority, Waste Management Group, WRAP, local partnerships etc…to ensure Middlesbrough remains as a key contributor to the Tees Valley Waste plan. To provide technical advice and are the principal source of Professional advice for MBC in relation to government/Defra waste strategies/policies and legislation.

The post holder is responsible in ensuring that Middlesbrough Council delivers an effective and efficient refuse and recycling statutory collection and disposal service to our residents, in line with government legislation. Additionally, they direct, manage, and support the waste collections & disposal managers, to ensure Middlesbrough remains strategically placed/incorporated within the Tees Valley waste strategy.

Salary: £40,478 – £42,503
