Job Title: Safety Planner – Domestic Abuse (Female Applicants Only)
Reporting to: Senior IDVA

About the Service/Department
Hestia provide domestic abuse accommodation services in West London as well as IDVA, Safety Planning and outreach services based in community settings, police stations and social services. The key aims of our services are to: Improve each client and their children’s safety and wellbeing by providing emergency accommodation services. Provide relevant support in accordance with the Safe Lives risk assessment and ISSP (Individual Safety & Support Planning), High, Medium and standard risk. Encourage and promote a Multi-agency approach of working to ensure the needs of the clients are met to a high quality which will include partnership working within all aspects of service provision included when relevant, support planning. With particular focus on MARAC (Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference). Provide a responsive service adaptable to service requirements. All: direct quality case management high risk – co-produce effective safety planning for 100% of clients, coordinating interventions: face to face, digital, phone.

About the role

To support the Service Manager and lead the in the running of the service ensuring the delivery of a consistent and high-quality service to women and children fleeing domestic violence in accordance with the mission statement and strategic objectives of Hestia and within the relevant legislative framework


Some other main responsibilities of the role include:

  • To provide effective safety-planning for 100% of clients, coordinating interventions: face to face, digital, phone.
  • Provide feedback to Social Workers regarding quality of their initial assessments and best practise.
  • Ensure the level of risk is assessed and with permission from the client, referred onto the appropriate agency.

About you

  • Experience of working in partnership with social services in order to provide safety planning advise to service users and Social Workers
  • Ability to develop trusting relationships with partner agencies, domestic abuse agencies and service users
  • Knowledge of the dynamics and impact of the VAWG abuses
  • Up to date knowledge of housing, criminal, civil and welfare rights legislation relating to domestic abuse or other elements of VAWG strands
  • To establish the risks to and the needs of survivors of domestic and sexual violence, identifying and prioritising those at the highest risk
  • To ensure that support planning is outcome focused and that clients inform
  • The type and level of support that they receive
  • To support the empowerment of survivors, assisting them to recognise the dynamics of domestic abuse present in their own situation, and to help them regain control of their lives
  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues and ability to address them appropriately
