The Purpose of
this Role:
To direct and supervise the maintenance and repair
of the Hotel building, grounds, contents & employee accommodation whilst
ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all equipment, and maintaining a
safe environment for both guests and employees.
Role Responsibilities:
- Organise and manage the maintenance department ensuring effective work and productivity from each individual.
- Arrange & negotiate service contracts.
- Draw up specifications and obtain quotations for all work involving outside contractors/consultants. Monitor progress to ensure work is completed on time.
- Liaise with local authorities such as the Fire Brigade to ensure that all requirements are complied with.
- Recruit, supervise, train and coach team members throughout the department and appraise on a regular basis.
- Ensure statutory testing is undertaken in all areas (i.e. Water, electricity, gas as per EHO)
- Ensure the department completes preventative maintenance in a timely fashion.
- Proactively identify future capital expenditure requirements and to prioritise on their undertaking.
- Oversee the maintenance of the hotel grounds and employee accommodation which is owned by the Company.
- Ensure the purchase order procedure is adhered to.
- Ensure guest satisfaction standards are being met and to provide where required out of hours support.
- Safeguard the welfare of the team; seek their feedback through departmental communication meetings.
- Adhere to all Health and Safety policies.
- Be an active participant of the management team and provide honest and constructive feedback and attend all relevant meetings in the absence of the Maintenance Manager.
- Deal with and resolve all complaints in accordance with the hotel policy.
The Ideal Candidate:
- As Maintenance Manager you’ll be able to
communicate confidently with our guests to ensure any issues they may have are
responded to in a timely and efficient manner whilst performing daily checks
and managing repairs either in person or through subcontractors. - The ideal candidate will
have previous experience of working in a similar environment with the ambition
to take on new responsibilities, you’ll need to lead the team and deputise in
the absence of the Maintenance Manager, liaise with the wider hotel team whilst
multi-tasking in a busy department. - Relevant trade
qualifications are essential in either electrical (18th Edition
Electrical course) or plumbing & heating, additional qualifications
in Health & - Safety and/or Pool Plant operations would
be highly advantageous, but not essential as we you will receive training. - This role will involve you
working a mixture of shifts including weekends and banks holidays on a
rotational basis.
