Dignity Funerals Manufacturing stands at the forefront of our commitment to excellence in funeral services. With a focus on quality craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail, we produce a significant portion of our coffins crafted in-house at our facilities in East Yorkshire.

Currently, we operate two factories, each with a distinct focus. One specialises in producing foil coffins, while the other is dedicated to crafting our solid oak and veneer coffins. Additionally, at this facility, we handcraft bespoke coffins tailored to individual specifications.

We are in search of a proactive and seasoned Maintenance and Facilities professional to oversee the maintenance and operational activities of our manufacturing facilities. The ideal candidate will be entrusted with ensuring the optimal functioning of our buildings, machinery, and equipment, while fostering a safe and compliant working environment. This pivotal role demands robust leadership skills, keen attention to detail, and the adeptness to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance/Facility Maintenance: Develop and execute maintenance plans for our factory’s buildings, machinery, and equipment. This includes scheduling regular inspections, orchestrating repair, and maintenance activities, and ensuring all facilities operate at peak efficiency.
  • Safety and Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and regulations to maintain a secure working environment. Conduct safety inspections, deliver employee training, and uphold compliance with safety standards.
  • Resource Management: Oversee the efficient utilisation of resources, including managing inventory of materials, tools, and equipment essential for production.
  • Space Management: Strategize the layout and utilisation of space within our factory to optimise productivity and efficiency.
  • Environmental Sustainability: Implement sustainable practices to reduce our environmental impact.
  • Budgeting and Cost Control: Participate in budgeting for facility-related expenses and diligently monitor costs to align with budgetary limits.
  • Equipment and Machinery Procurement: Engage in the procurement process for new equipment and machinery necessary for our operations.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement emergency preparedness plans, encompassing fire safety procedures and evacuation protocols.
  • Vendor and Contractor Management: Collaborate with external vendors and contractors for maintenance and repair services.
  • Continuous Improvement: Proactively seek opportunities to enhance facility operations and efficiency.

Experience We’re Seeking:

  • Facilities Management Experience: Previous experience in facility management or a related field is highly advantageous, including roles such as assistant or coordinator in facility management, building maintenance, or operations.
  • Knowledge of Building Systems: Experience with various building systems such as compressed air, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and security systems is desirable.
  • Maintenance and Repair Experience: A solid understanding of maintenance and repair processes is essential, including planning and executing maintenance programs, conducting repairs, and coordinating with maintenance teams or contractors.
  • Project Management Experience: Experience in project management, encompassing planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and stakeholder coordination, is beneficial.
  • Budgeting and Financial Management: Experience in managing budgets and controlling costs is valuable, including developing and monitoring budgets and making informed decisions to optimize resource allocation.
  • Compliance and Regulations: Experience in ensuring compliance with Health and Safety, and environmental regulations is important, including familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Previous experience in leadership or management roles, with demonstrated skills in team building, communication, and conflict resolution, is valuable.
  • Technical Knowledge and Certifications: Technical knowledge relevant to facility management, including understanding building systems, equipment, and maintenance procedures, is beneficial.
  • Industry-Specific Experience: Specific experience in facilities management within the manufacturing industry is preferred.
