This role supports directly with users of adult social care services and their family carer network to undertake a financial assessment. The financial assessment process determines how much a resident will need to contribute towards the cost of their care. As a Financial Assessment Officer, you will help people understand why they are being asked to contribute towards the cost of their care and to advise on what aspects of their personal income and capital will count towards the cost of their care.
This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
We are looking for someone with great interpersonal skills, who can build rapport and trust with clients, their families, or financial representatives. The financial assessment process can be a daunting experience for some people therefore the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate patience to support people at a time in their life when changes in their personal circumstances mean that they need to access social care services.
It would be beneficial in this role to have a basic knowledge of the benefits system and processes to help people maximise their personal income.
