About the Role
We have an opportunity for an experienced Exams Officer to join the outreach team to coordinate, organise and deliver internal and external examinations within GHES. The role could be the perfect step for someone looking to apply the skills they have developed in a main school to a hospital education setting offering a different type of challenge and complexity. We look to our Exams Officer to oversee the coordination and administration of examinations throughout the year in liaison with all Exams Officers in the secondary schools our students are dual-registered with. You will work closely with our SENDCo for Exam Access Arrangements, alongside your equivalent colleagues in secondary schools and the medical professionals our students are under the care of.
About you:
We are looking for a staff member who:
- Takes pride in their work and thrives in a busy environment
- Has the ability to work to a high degree of accuracy when dealing with exam administration
- Has a high degree of confidentiality and awareness of safeguarding and data protection principles
- Is willing to be flexible and adaptable with tasks as they arise
- Is able to confidently communicate with students, parents, professionals through the main schools in Gloucestershire and NHS professionals
- Can organise and plan their workload and the exams timetable across the year
- Has excellent ICT skills, especially with Microsoft and SIMS
The role of Exams Officer is integral to the successful outcomes of the young people we support in Year 10 and Year 11, enabling them to access exams, not only at GCSE, but in Pearson Functional Skills, Edexcel Awards and AQA Unit Awards.
About Us
This is a fantastic opportunity to join the hospital education team. You can be confident of joining a highly professional, passionate, supportive and very experienced team of teachers, pastoral and administrative team working tirelessly to ensure the best outcomes can be achieved for every individual despite the health barriers they may be facing.
Working Arrangements
The role is a term-time only role, 21 hours per week, days/times can be agreed with the successful candidate. However, there will be specific periods when we would require the Exams Officer to work more hours. This would be during the week of the planned GCSE Art Exams, during the 4 weeks of GCSE exams, and when results are issued in August. All additional hours would be claimed at an hourly rate for the position.
This role is advertised as Grade 7, 21 hours per week, term-time only 39 + 5.55 holiday allowance (this works out as being approximately 0.53FTE). We are ideally looking for a September 2023 start.
We are able to offer a hybrid model of working, where we would expect some hours/days to be from our County Office in Cheltenham, but there is also an opportunity to work from home.
GHES is a school and a service within GCC and as such employees are entitled to many benefits within GCC:
