Detailed job description and main responsibilities
They will provide senior strategic visible clinical and professional leadership, for all Paediatric patients across the Trust including across the multidisciplinary team. Providing specialist expertise and taking specific responsibility for patient safety, quality and experience, the post holder will promote quality, innovation, productivity and performance that improves quality of care and patient outcomes, driving transformation through agreed improvement models or service pathway redesigns. Act as an expert in neonates and children’s and young people’s care delivery nursing, networking effectively across the organisation and outside the organisation to ensure a joined-up approach is taken to services accessed by babies, children and young people which meets national standards and their specific needs. In addition, to participate in national and regional networks, being alert to best practice, bringing this back to the Trust and representing the department effectively. • Lead the delivery of patient pathways/service development according to ASPH Clinical Strategy, national specialist guidance and workforce needs ensuing excellent and best care and outcomes. • This role is the NCYP lead operationally and strategically across the Trust ensuring service improvements on pathways. • Lead and manage the Divisional nursing workforce.• Work collaboratively with the divisional and Corporate Quality team and specifically provide oversight for the Quality and Safety team within WHP services.• Ensure oversight of Divisional governance processes and provide assurance of all processes• Provide high level professional and operational support for nursing across the wider Foundation Trust and support the successful achievement of the Trust vision• Responsible for the delivery of excellent quality nursing care providing highly specialist and expert advice to the Trust and Division on all nursing matters• In collaboration with the Divisional Director and Associate Director of Operations lead the Clinical Governance Assurance Framework and ensure the quality of care within the Division; patient experience, patient safety and clinical effectiveness are of the highest standard, meeting national and local outcomes and achievement of agreed CQUIN payments• Responsible for ensuring that the Integrated Clinical Governance Assurance Framework and PSIRF is embedded within the Division• Integrate corporate nursing plans and corporate objectives with the Divisional clinical service plans.• Work with senior nurses across the Trust to evolve and develop predictive/early warning clinical quality dashboards that enable targeted interventionDeputise for the Deputy Chief Nurse as required• Ensure the nursing agenda is delivered by providing leadership and professional management of Clinical Nurse Leader, Nurse Consultants, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Practice Educators and all nurses within the Division• Ensure strong and effective ward management is in place.• Responsible for sustained delivery of the nursing budget in the Division and for ensuring the nursing resource is used effectively, contributing to continuous improvement, increased productivity and realisation of benefits both in financial cost improvement savings and in resource terms• Lead on the Workforce strategy for the division ensuring quality and safety underpin decision making incorporating QSIAs with service changes.• Lead on strategic nursing issues as determined by the Chief Nurse• Responsible for policy and service development with the division and corporately as determined by the Chief Nurse.• Provide direct clinical and operational support and leadership whenever required.
