The Community Dementia Engagement Worker supports the delivery of timetabled uplifting and meaningful activities for people and their families, in the community, who are living with dementia.

Working with our volunteers and community professionals to provide regular enjoyable stimulating and welcoming activities such as professionally led singing sessions.

Our memory café’s offer: interesting speakers, exercise sessions, musical entertainment, dementia specialists and reminiscence. 

This role is responsible for delivering dementia awareness and cognitive stimulation training to staff, volunteers, and the wider community. We offer both in person and online services and we strive to continually improve our offering.

What you will be doing:

  • Supporting the day-to-day operational running of the existing Community Dementia sessions
  • Working with staff and volunteers, across our resources to deliver Community Dementia sessions that engages our clients in a meaningful and fulfilling environment.
  • Attending and participating in the Community Dementia services across Greater London and Essex on a regular basis.
  • Supporting volunteers in reaching out to Community Dementia session attendees
  • Supporting volunteers and staff to promote, increase and maintain Community Dementia attendance.
  • Providing advice and guidance, to access additional Jewish Care services.

What you will need:

  • Experience of working within a community setting supporting in the delivery of meaningful activities
  • Knowledge of the Jewish community, across all levels of observance, local parlance, and festivities.
  • Understanding of needs and challenges of people living with dementia and their families.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, with the ability to deliver a consistently high-quality customer experience.
  • Ability to work empathetically and respectfully with people of all ages and abilities.
