The role of the Business Development Consultant (BDC) is to support the Business Development Manager achieving both financial and non financial KPI’s for the Business Development section made up from a cluster of mature market sectors. Maximising new and existing business opportunities to achieve personal job start KPI’s that in turn support the achievement of the overall section target.
The post holder will be expected to identify new business opportunities within their defined market sectors, developing these employer lead opportunities, researching, engaging and converting early stage business opportunities into trading customer relationships. The BDC will also be expected develop new business contacts and to account manage existing employer customers, developing market share, increasing the volume of new apprenticeship job opportunities received in line with the business plan. They will strive towards achieving and exceeding these targets with high quality Apprenticeship provision in line with our entry requirements and expectations around employer and apprentice values.

Key Responsibilities
To carry out initial research through outbound calls using a variety of data sources, following the process required to ensure we remain GDPR compliant.
To attend employer visits, establishing training needs conducting a thorough training needs analysis as required
To develop and manage relationships with key stakeholders to secure future long term and high quality pipeline of business
To arrange initial ‘fact find’ appointments with new employers for both themselves and the Business Development Manager.
To attend new business visits, presentations, or plan account management review meetings
To regularly plan and attend business networking events to promote the section and wider college
To develop strong working relationships with appropriate schools to engage with new opportunity leads
To work within the recruitment and enrolment frameworks and processes.
To ensure SLA and enrolment documentation is completed and received in line with process
Be responsible and have accountability for targets and KPI’s set by Newcastle College.
To assess and resolve enquiries, requests, and complaints, primarily on the telephone, but also by other electronic access channels, to ensure that employer enquiries are resolved at first point of contact, unless specialist knowledge or further investigation is required.
Work with marketing to ensure performance of campaigns is achieved through customer service and customer engagement activity.
Compile and produce timely information and reports when required.
Contribute to promotional literature to support recruitment activity.
Undertake any other duties reasonable assigned by line manager.
Demonstrate consistently the positive attitudes, values and behaviours of the organisation.
