Have you got what it takes to enable looked-after children to achieve academic success and progress?

Coventry Virtual School has a duty to promote and drive the educational achievement of children aged 0-25 who are looked after by them, wherever they live or are educated.

We are seeking to recruit a suitably experienced teacher to improve the educational outcomes for Coventry’s children looked after and young people placed both in Coventry and out of the City. You will need to be passionate about improving the education of young people who are in care, with excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.

You will have considerable experience in raising attainment for vulnerable pupils, this could include those who are care-experienced and/or with special educational needs. They will also have experience teaching Early Years and primary-aged pupils.

As an Advisory Teacher, you will be working as part of our well-established Virtual School Team. This team is small, supportive, and welcoming. The role will involve working with colleagues and partners across educational settings, our Virtual School Team and children’s social care. You will provide guidance, support and advice on each child making effective decisions about their education, working with the Designated Teachers to ensure regular and meaningful PEP meetings take place, focusing on raising academic achievement and attainment.

This is a  fixed-term post until the end of the summer term 2024.  A secondment would be considered.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

We are looking for a qualified teacher who has significant experience of working with children looked after.
